Old houses offer a lot of character, but not much in the way of storage. This is especially true in bedrooms, where at the turn of the twentieth century, a small 2’x3′ foot closet seemed to suffice. Let Spofford Houseworks help add a closet in your bedroom that will give you the space we require in these times, and make it look like it has always been there!
The trick is to first find a spot in the room where a new closet will be the least intrusive with regard to floor space. Here, we selected a corner and wall that was too small to accommodate a headboard and designed a solution that would fit in to the rest of the room’s flow.
Then we framed out the closet. Our client couldn’t wait to try it out!
Frame complete – Now it’s time for some Sheetrock.
Finish carpentry to match the rest of the room.
We then mixed stain to match the 100 year old woodwork in the rest of the room.
The final product. A new closet in an old house made to look like it’s always been there. Call Spofford Houseworks to help you design and build a new closet in YOUR old house today! 207-809-5488
